Where are you publishing? / Which publishers are you choosing?

On 14 November 2024, from 9 AM to 1 PM, the University of Vienna in cooperation with Austrian Transition to Open Access Two / Subproject "Predatory Publishing, invites you to an exchange about the changing landscape of scholarly communication and its effects on the everyday work practices of researchers.

During key lectures, practice-orientated workshops and follow-up rounds of discussions, we want to engage with the following questions:

  • What does quality mean in the scientific publication system and how can quality be ensured, for instance through Peer Review?
  • How is the landscape of the scientific publication landscape currently changing?
  • Why are Mass Open Access Publisher, such as MDPI, Hindawi or Frontiers, currently the cause for such controversial discussions?
  • How should we deal with predatory publishing and other predatory phenomena?

Together, we will discuss these topics and reflect upon them from the perspectives of researchers, research services and scientific libraries.

This event addresses PhD-students and early career researchers in particular. The number of participants is limited to 50 people. The event is held in German at Austrian Central Library for Physics and Chemistry Library, Boltzmanngasse 5, 5th floor.
