Other Service Units
Aside from the assistance from your doctoral school, there are several service units that offer a broad range of support for young researchers:
The Center for Doctoral Studies is the central info point regarding questions about the doctorate at the University of Vienna. They advice (prospective) doctoral candidates regarding the process of the doctorate, funding possibilities as well as regarding their personal and professional development. Every semester, CTL offers a training programme in transferable skills on topics such as literature research and management, academic writing and publishing, time and project management.
The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) supports directorates of studies, curricular working groups and teachers with a range of services with the aim to continuously improve the quality of teaching.
The Vienna University Computer Center (ZID) is responsible for creating and maintaining a stable and state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, and providing a wide range of IT services to all employees and students of the university.
The Austrian National Union of Students (ÖH Uni Wien) represent students in dealings with the rectorate, advocate for better study conditions, and give students advice on all hurdles throughout their studies.
