3. Doctoral Thesis Agreement

The doctoral thesis agreement is concluded after a positive presentation at the faculty.

Besides writing their thesis doctoral candidates have to earn study credits (e.g. through seminars, lectures etc.) - the amount of credits is defined by the respective curricula and in agreement with the supervisor on how it will be achieved.

You can find a detailed description of the doctoral process including the doctoral thesis agreement on the website of the Center for Doctoral Studies.

Doctoral Thesis Agreement

Doctoral candidate, supervisor/s and the university sign a doctoral thesis agreement (DZ/V01) comprising the following points:

  • all participants' rights and obligations,
  • detailed description of the doctoral thesis project,
  • time schedule and specification of financial aspects,
  • extent of supervision (frequency of feedback meetings) and
  • requirements that have to be fulfilled.

The doctoral thesis agreement must be sent to the StudiesServiceCenter Computer Science (SSC) by email.

The progress of the doctoral thesis project is documented in yearly annexes to the agreement (annual progress reports).

Application for the recognition of examination

  1. If you have questions in regard to the accreditation or equivalence of your academic performances, please contact the Director of Doctoral Studies Programme (DSPL).
  2. In accordance with the DSPL, the accreditation or equivalence of your academic performance has to be included in your doctoral thesis agreement and approved accordingly.
  3. After that, submit your completed form ("Antrag auf Anerkennung von Prüfungen, anderen Studienleistungen, Tätigkeiten und Qualifikationen (gemäß § 78 UG) (SL/A1)" in order to issue the official notice of the recognition of exams to the SSC.
