Doctoral Research Seminars

Doctoral students can attend and advance through the following Research Seminars:

  • Research Conception Seminar
    • doctoral students are optimally prepared for computer science research in their chosen research field and enabled to formulate a strong research proposal
    • together with their supervisors
    • teaching activities include: workshops on research proposal preparation; preparation, presentations and discussion of literature and/or tools in a research area; overview of research methods
  • Research Foundations Seminar
    • doctoral students work on research foundations in their chosen research field
    • together with their supervisors
    • teaching activities such as: Research Methods Seminar; Systematic Literature Studies; Prototyping Workshop; (Open Source) Software Study; Writers Workshop
  • Advanced Topics Research Seminar
    • doctoral students deepen the research basics by means of research subject-specific advanced topics
    • together with their supervisors
    • teaching activities like: Advanced Systematic Literature Studies; Advanced Prototyping Workshop; Advanced (Open Source) Software Study; Advanced Writers Workshop; In-depth discussions and workshops on in-progress papers/dissertation write-ups

A Research Seminar is offered by at least 3 supervisors. A jointly offered Research Seminar is offered throughout the semester as well.

Application for the recognition of examination

  1. If you have questions in regard to the accreditation or equivalence of your academic performances, please contact the Director of Doctoral Studies Programme (DSPL)
  2. In accordance with the DSPL, the accreditation or equivalence of your academic performance has to be included in your doctoral thesis agreement and approved accordingly.
  3. After that, submit your completed form ("Antrag auf Anerkennung von Prüfungen, anderen Studienleistungen, Tätigkeiten und Qualifikationen (gemäß § 78 UG) (SL/A1)") (available in German only) in order to issue the official notice of the recognition of exams from the SSC.
